Jules Verne was never in the Orinoco, he documented himself based on readings that, together with his extraordinary imagination, allowed him to describe the waters of the river, its tribes and diseases, the fauna and flora and everything else related to the river, islands, boats , tributaries, towns, as well as its geographical environment with the mountains and the jungle along with the history of that remote place for him. The novel has two different threads: searching for a lost father and the quest to discover the origin of the river. Jules Verne resolved the controversy without sailing it.
